Vedic Yuga is Joelgang → JOL-GÁ of JOL-GANG (vgl. OMMEGANG)

The word yuga occurs at least thirty-eight times in the Rigveda, but the meaning is rather doubtful. In a few places yuga means yoke [JOK in OL] ... In many places it appears to refer to a very brief period ... Generally yuga appears to mean in the Rigveda generation (lessening the life of human generations) ... In other places yuga must be given the sense of a long period of time ... [P.V. Kane (1936) cited on wikipedia; underlining and links added.]

Ook Yoga zou afgeleid kunnen zijn van het Joel, in OL beschreven als het eerste symbool van het opperwezen. Zie b.v. op Etymologiebank:

Sanskrit yóga- meditatie, vereniging met het opperste wezen, oorspr. verbinding

Mogelijk gerelateerd Oudgrieks (Halberstadt, Grieksch-Nederlandsch schoolwoordenboek, 1900; onderstreping toegevoegd):
