Jacques F. Overwijn was the author of the second Dutch Oera Linda translation, published in two different editions of 1941 and 1951.

Biographic facts

  • 1890 (November 28) born in Dordrecht as "Jakobus Frederikus", son of Johannes Bernardus Overwijn and Elisabeth Henderika Maria Sauveur.
  • 1915 Registered as living in Den Haag, profession: engineer.
  • 1933 Registered as living in Rotterdam.
  • 1933 (February) Appointment as regional leader for Rotterdam of Dutch National Socialist Union (NSB).
  • 1935 (March) Ended membership Dutch National Socialist Union (NSB).
  • 1935 (July 16) Mentioned in 'Het Volk' as one of the leaders of fascist party HNVF (Het NL Volksfront).
  • 1943 Registered as living in Dordrecht.
  • 1943 (July 31) arrested by Dutch police under German occupation for activities in resistance.
  • 1950 Witness in trial Christiansen. See book "Het proces Christiansen" (Nijhoff, 1950).
  • 1951 (February 17) Awarded military Decoration 'Bronze Cross' (for resistance during German occupation).
  • 1954 (September 25) or
  • 1955 (March 18) Awarded Belgian Order of the Crown 'Knight with Palm' in Den Haag.
  • 1965 (May 31) death in Dordrecht, 74 years old, unmarried.

He was teacher at a grammar school, residing in a houseboat in the Spuihaven, Dordrecht.
